The Alaska Department of Fish & Game acknowledges the growing trend of individuals relying on their mobile devices for information and credentials. With that in mind, they have developed a mobile app specifically designed for anglers and hunters in Alaska, with the goal of enhancing their pre-trip planning and in-field experience. The app offers access to essential information and services required for complying with hunting and fishing regulations. Here are the key features of the app:

• Display licenses, permits, and big game locking-tag records: The app enables users to purchase and view various licenses, including hunting, fishing, trapping, and combination licenses. It also allows them to obtain big game locking-tag records, commercial crewmember licenses, hunting permits, harvest tickets, and certain personal use fishing permits. The app ensures that all licenses, permits, and big game locking-tag records can be carried and presented to enforcement personnel in the field through a mobile device.

• View hunting and sport fishing regulations: Users can access all current hunting regulations for the entire state through the app. This includes personal use regulations as well. Additionally, users have the ability to view regulations specific to their physical location, search for locations statewide, and download maps and regulations for offline use. Future updates to the app will encompass sport fishing regulations as well.

• Record harvest: The app offers a feature that allows users to record their hunting and fishing harvests while in the field. It also enables reporting of some personal use fishing harvests.

• Sport fish species identification: The app includes a separate section dedicated to helping users identify different sport fish species. It provides images and text descriptions of commonly targeted sport fish species. Furthermore, it offers definitions, regional and statewide methods and means, prohibited acts, and other necessary regulatory content that may not be displayed at specific sites or sub-levels.
